The Hills.
Most of you know what i'm talking about. This show follows the "trials and tribulations" of Lauren Conrad, aka LC, and her life in Los Angeles. I absolutely LOVE this show.
Each week, I anticipate a new episode where some NEW drama unfolds between Lauren and her entourage. It's so addicting, it's sick.
Back when I was at Westminster, I got addicted to a similar show (not really similar, but I was addicted, so that counts for something). My whole life revolved around Wednesday nights because "The Bachelor" was on. Something about "reality" tv is so unrealistic. These shows are such marketing magic! People love to watch them and watch to love them because they are supposed to be like real life.
Honestly though, what is real about them? For me, I use them as an escape into someone elses world that is way more glamorous than mine! The odds of anything happening to me like happens to Lauren is a million, to one. But somehow, I like to compare my life to hers, commiserate with her pain, and use examples of what i've gone through and what she's gone through to show how alike she and I really are.
It's truly ironic, my love of The Hills- because I really realize that it's all still a show. Although, I must say, each week, a little gem of truth will stick out in some conversation, in one scene that makes the whole half hour so worthwhile....
This week's nugget:
You forgive the people you want to forgive, you make time for the people you want to make time for, and sometimes no matter how long it's been, there are some ex's you just never get over.
Until next week's episode, that's all I have to say about that. I just can't seem to get enough...
