This morning as I was getting ready for work, I received an odd text:
Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant!
You may ask, who would send such a text?? What can I say, I happen to have friends who like to indulge in celebrity gossip on occasion just like me!!
I was speechless! Yes, your worst fears are being realized, i'm going to join the band wagon and blog about Jamie Lynn Spears. Perhaps I want to blog about this because I share the same first and middle names as her (except spelled alot cooler).
After I received the text, I ofcourse did what every red-blooded American does when they want more info on something and I googled her name, wanting more details on the situation. I was SHOCKED at how many articles, message boards and opinions I found on the matter. What was even more shocking to me was the realization of the state the world is currently in.
When my parents were growing up, you would never hear of a 16-year-old having a baby! And if you did, it was a very hush-hush matter. It's amazing how technology has changed privacy and respect for the private lives of people. The bible says there is nothing new under the sun--I think people have always struggled with what we struggle with these days, now it's just easier to find out about it.
I can't help but feel sorry for Jamie Lynn, her childhood has suddenly been taken from her. I think of my little sisters who are around her age--I can't even dream of them being a mother! There are alot of days I think I couldn't even handle being a mother-what a big responsibility!
This past year, i've watched several of my close friends become mom's- it's been really cool seeing how that event changed them as people. I only hope that this experience is a positive one for Jamie Lynn, and that she has a fair chance to raise her baby as normally as possible.
