"You're Such a Dreamer"

Do you remember when you were a little kid when someone would ask you what/who you wanted to be when you grew up?

Without hesitation, the words "I want to be a journalist, write a book, and be a talk-show host!" would pop out of my mouth. Back then, I never considered that those things could possibly not happen.

I have come to believe that when we are in our mothers womb, God has already placed within us a destiny-a call- and a plan for our lives. I also believe that the things that we are passionate about, specifically those things we can trace back to our childhood fantasies, are a good gauge to measure the things God may have in store for our lives.

There is a familiar piece of scripture in Proverbs that states "God gives you the desire of your heart..." I know I used to interpret that to mean God gives me the things I truly want (especially when I am seeking first His kingdom!) But here is a new way to consider it, if you, like me, interpreted it that way:

God gives you the desires of your heart= God places desires within each and every one of us

I think most people feel guilty and sometimes even think they are out of God's will if they are doing things that TRULY make them happy, maybe because they feel there is no obvious deep spiritual purpose in what they're doing. For example, those who like paint, sing, write music, run. They may be looked at as a dreamer with no ambition or solid life goals- but what if their God-given goal is to paint for His glory, Sing and write for Him, or run the race? Who is to say?

I believe that if negative forces can get us to believe that our passions and pursuits are pipe-dreams, or selfish ambitions, then we become innefective in the areas that God has given us to pursue and cultivate.

What you are God at, what you love to do-God gave to you! He placed in all of us some crazy "pipe dream" that through only Him, we will definately be able to fulfill!

What are you waiting for? Go pursue that dream!
