Don't Mess With the Zohan...

No really, don't. I went to see the newest Adam Sandler movie this weekend, and it was not good at all, in my opinion of course! I am not a huge Adam Sandler fan to begin with, so this may contribute to my lack of satisfaction with this movie.

A trend i've noticed lately with movies I've gone to see...the previews show all the good parts! And everything else is non-sense, and the parts you see in the previews that draw you in, are no longer funny or amusing because you've seen them so many times. Is anyone else feeling me on this one??

Movies are powerful--they take you away from the reality of your life and make you forget what is going on around you. It fascinates me--what movies can do. The connections you feel with the characters, and the emotions are so powerful! There are certain movies that I can watch over and over, some that I watch once, and some I have no desire to ever see.

Some of my favorite movies are older movies. To name a few, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Send Me No Flowers (Doris Day), Singin' in the Rain (Fred Astaire), Sabrina (Audrey Hepburn), The Court Jester (Danny Kaye), It's a Wonderful Life (Jimmy Stewart), Calamity Jane (Doris Daye), and any and all Jerry Lewis movies. There is something so wholesome about these older flicks! And there is nothing like a musical-which most of those movies are! I grew up on the AMC channel--and my parents instilled in my an appreciation of the classics. I was thinking tonight, what would Fred Astaire or Audrey Hepburn do if they went to a modern day movie? I can almost picture them, standing in line at Lowes in the Waterfront, looking confused at the digital time showings, looking amazed that there are so many movies to chose from! As they enter theatre # 4, and settle in with their popcorn, and Don't Mess With the Zohan starts to play....I wonder if they would even stay for the whole thing!
;-)
PS- I am realizing from my last few blogs that perhaps I was born in the wrong generation.....

Dan and I had a really bad movie experience once (back before we had kids and could go to movies...). =) We went to see Gigli thinking, JLo and Ben would put on a nice, light romantic comedy. Didn't realize it was rated R for all the wrong reasons. Yick! It was just awful. Now I usually check pluggedinonline.com before I see a movie. Granted, it is a Christian site, so they find something wrong with every secular movie =) but it does give you a really good idea of what you're about to see.
