Confessions of a Shopaholic

I will buy mostly ANYTHING.

A few examples:

I went to my sisters Grand Opening for her new business, Body by Design. It sounds more scandalous than it is. She does trigger point therapy and medical massage. Well I didn't know that i'd walk out of her Grand Opening with three fake designer purses. But I did! I bought three purses!!!

Yesterday, I went to Sheetz to get a sub. That was all I wanted and needed. Well I walked in the door and the Pittsburgh Tribune Review has a booth set up giving away "free papers." I haven't picked up a paper since 1998 or something. I read my news online. If I WERE to read a paper, it would be the Post-Gazette. If you guessed that I walked out of Sheetz with a 12 week, weekend subscription to the Trib, you would be guessing right. Why did I sign up for this??

To my credit, they were giving out $10 sheetz gift cards for signing up for a $12 subscription. So it was like paying $2.00 for the paper. But I don't EVEN READ THE PAPER. Furthermore, I spend my weekends in Pittsburgh so I won't even be there to pick it up. Just another thing to clutter the walkway/kitchen counter I suppose. So why did I buy this?? Who really knows...

Which leads me to infomercials: I always want to buy whatever they are selling!! I have only bought one thing off an infomercial, which I actually did like (Bare Minerals-before you could buy it at Ulta). The most recent item that struck my fancy- The InStyler. I dare you to watch the demo and NOT want it. It's magical!!

My impulsive buying from street vendors/infomercials can only come from one thing: as a child I HATED selling things. I hated selling candy bars, Christmas wreathes, tickets to spaghetti diners or getting pledges for school walk-a-thons. It has taken me some time to realize I say "yes" to any person selling useless items because I hated when people said "no" to me as a young little girl in my plaid school uniform selling Joe Corbi's pizza kits.

It feels good to get this off my chest.
