Wake Me Up, When September Ends

Something i've been meaning to blog about for awhile...

Kids Bop.

I'm sure you've all seen the commercials for these disks filled with "children's music". Normally the commercials feature some brightly colored graphics accompanying music videos starring children who are 7,8or 9. I guess it's the mother in me coming out when I see these commercials--I feel two emotions consecutively. One- amusement/laughter, two- horror/appalled-ness. Why are kids these ages singing about break-ups, hard days and partying all night long?? What ever happened to nursery rhymes and Ring Around the Rosey?? (I do realize Ring Around the Rosey is actually morbid, but humor me)

There are now 15 Kids Bop cd's with songs ranging from "Wake Me Up When September Ends" (see blog title), Take a Bow (I'm sorry, does anyone else not think it's funny when blond hair, blue eyed Sally is singing " Don't tell me you're sorry, 'cause you're not...baby when I know you're only sorry you got caught. Ridic!!),Hate That I Love You, and my personal favorites Walk It Out/Get Silly. Honestly, can young kids relate to these songs?!

Maybe no one else can relate to this blog, but I had to write about it anyways. And I know for certain that Beth shares the humor of these cd's. I actually find myself looking forward to new releases, mainly because the commercials always feature some young tot dancing to "When I Grow Up" by the Pussy Cat Dolls. Does any parent REALLY want their daughter looking up to them?!!! I guess that's a whole other topic...

Yes! I am so glad you wrote this Jaime! These Kidz Bop cd's really get on my last nerve. Because the song is recorded by children, its ok for them to listen to "drop it like its hot"?

Ugh! I would never let my children have these cd's.
