Reading Rainbow

Can I tell you how excited I am to have Monday off?! And how excited I am that this weekend is pretty low-key, minus working a HUGE HUGE wedding today....

Life has been a whirlwind lately, and I can sense some big changes in my near future. Some of them are really cool, some are really sad. It's so weird how one day, things are just floating along, and the next everything is up in the air. But I suppose this is the cycle life takes on a regular basis...

I'm not in the mood/it's too early for this blog to be SUPER deep, so I will now let you know my new obsession:

The Twilight Book Series.

These books are AMAZING. I can't tell you the last time I read with such vigor! Perhaps this semester of grad school sucked all the joy out of reading for pleasure, but I got it back! And it's wonderful!!!! I kept hearing all the hype about Twilight and honestly was a little turned off by it, but I am normally behind the 8-ball on trends, and rented the movie about three weeks ago. My policy is generally to NOT see movies that are already books until I read them (I guess with the exception of Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter...so I guess I really don't have that policy). I love being able to make my own mind up about the characters and locations without having it dictated to me by a producer. I really wish I had read the book before I watched Twilight, because there are SO many discrepancies. It's hard to read a book when you are worried about discovering what the screenplay writer left out of the movie from the original text.

Regardless of this mishap, I am loving this series! I finished book two last night, and book one earlier in the day yesterday.....yes, two books that are over one thousand pages each in less than 16 hours. Hmmm, can we say "reading to the extreme"? I used to read all the time when I was little, but ever since college, I really have limited my reading to the Bible and devotional books, not that this is a bad thing! But I just forgot how much I love reading fiction....
