Today I read the most delightful post written by Mary, a lovely college friend for life entitled
"I bet none of you knew more than 2 of these "quirks", with a challenge at the end for all of us who read it to make our own lists. The results below:
1- I developed a sign language routine to "Nice and Slow" by Usher with a fellow TJ Maxx associate one night when we were working. (and still can do it, and DO do it when I hear the song)
2-When I would play alone in my room as a child, I would often think "What if Johnathan Taylor Thomas is watching me?" so then I would try to look really pretty, clean up and "play perfectly" in case JTT, or some other heartthrob walked in my room suddenly.
3- I used to make tapes of the Top 8 at 8 on B-94 and then transcribe the lyrics in a secret notebook. I often would have the lyrics wrong but would sing them according my transcriptions.
4- Growing up, we didn't have a lot of money, but several of my friends were more well-to-do than I. So one year, I tried to impress these friends by telling two of them that I had tickets to The Nutcracker in downtown Pittsburgh and they were invited. Little did they know that the two "tickets for them"I had old were (used) ticket stubs from a performance that my dad took me to the year before, and no new tickets existed. I kept up this charade for weeks before Christmas, until they finally figured out one day that I was telling a fib. :(
5- I know entire parts of certain movies by heart. I have two friends that I text one line to, they'll text the next, and we can continue doing so for days on end.
6- Speaking of movies, The movie National Velvet (with Elizabeth Taylor) changed my life when I was about 11. (velvet was her horse, and Liz Taylor was the first female jockey to win a major horse race...inspirational)Because I didn't have a horse, I started pretending that my bike was a horse, and would go next door in a Rite Aid parking lot and take my "horse/bike" through "training" by riding my bike in and out of the lines. I would also put my bike away with a bucket of water and some grass to "eat" like a horse would.
*wow, I was/am a weird child!!!*
7-I have tried to write multiple books, most of them based on my life. I started writing books when I was prob 11 or 12. Naturally, I am the lead character in these works of fiction. But I always would change my name to something glamorous like Chloe, or Jessica James.
8- Blond hair, blue eyes, braces and freckles were the pinnacle of beauty when I was younger.
9- I have never cheated on a test.
10- I wrote multiple letters to Princess Diana before she died. And yes, I did cry the night she was in her fatal car crash.
Okay, I guess that's enough embarrassing information for one day. Thanks for the idea Mary!
