Gray Hair is a crown to the aged?

If you've heard it once, you've heard it a million times.

"Youth is wasted on the young."

"Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter."

I don't mind being 24- overall, it's been a good year so far. Lots of good things have happened, and sometimes I don't use the phrase "when I grow up" when I'm speaking about the future! (progress!)

It's ironic truly- the story I'm about to tell for a couple reasons. As a girl growing up, like many girls, I always wanted to look older than I was. I would go to Kennywood, and play the "guess how old you are game" just to see what age would be thrown at me. (The most proud moment of my young 13-year old life was when I was guessed to be 18) It was flattering to be thought of as such a mature age, when in reality I was a little girl with a crush on Johnathan Taylor Thomas, and 'N Sync.

Sometimes, my mom would have to make me tone down my make-up and clothes so I would look a little more age appropriate. Looking back at pictures from my 13-18 year old years, I now can see how awkward I truly was! Why, oh why, did I ever think that Tazmanian Devil shirts with vertically striped colored jeans would make me look older?

Then, It happened, I finally turned the elusive 1-8! Adulthood! Freedom! That's laughable. Truly, I was no more adult then, that I was at 14. However, I had truly attained the age of all ages, in my book. To celebrate, I went out and got my ear carteledge pierced. That was the logical thing to do, right?

Somehow, since my 18th birthday, my ability in looking 18 or older has reversed. Now, People would often ask me if I was still in high school, when I was headed off to college! Just the other day, I was talking to a nice old lady in my hair salon, and she asked me if I knew her grand daughter. I said probably not...and she said, "well, how old are you?"....I said "I'm 24." She said..."oh, I thought you were 16!"

SHE THOUGHT I KNEW HER GRANDAUGHTER WHO IS IN HIGH SCHOOL AND 16!!!!

At first, I was really distressed over this. 8 years younger than I really am???? Wow. Then, as if matters couldn't get more ridiculous-- on my way home I discovered my second gray hair in one months time!

So, i'm "16" with gray hair--what's that Proverb again... gray hair is a crown of splendor to the old???

Well call me princess-sweet-16-Jaime.
