I hate chain emails. Rarely do I read them, let alone pass them on. (please forgive the one I posted earlier in this blog, as I felt obligated to post it because of my dad!!!). They are annoying. Normally ridiculous. And they make more promises than an infomercial. ("pass this on to 50 friends in 5 minutes and your true love will call at midnight??? COME ON. And what's worse, people actually DO what they say!)
So, when I recieved this email below from a friend, I was less than two seconds from hitting the "delete" button. However, I did what the email said and recieved surprising results.
Okay, this one is different - this is funny. YOU fill in the blanks about ME and send it back to ME. But FIRST send a blank one out to all your friends, including me, so we can return the favor to you. Be honest. It only takes a few minutes, so just do it!First send (forward) this survey to everyone you know to see how well he or she knows you.Second, hit 'reply' and fill this survey out about the person who sent it to you and send it back to them.
Where did we meet?
Take a stab at my middle name?
Do I smoke?
Color of my eyes?
Do I have any siblings?
What's one of my favorite things to do?
What's my favorite type of music?
Am I shy or outgoing?
Am I a rebel or do I follow the rules?
Any special talents?
How many children do I have?
If you and I were stranded on a desert island, what is one thing that I would bring?
I think in general, we as humans, want even crave to know what others are thinking. We may act like it's non-essential and non-important, but I don't really believe anyone who says that really don't care AT ALL what others are thinking. Anyways- there were a couple of surprising things that came out of this email chain for me--firstly, I was shocked at how many people actually responded! That almost never happens when it's an email that requires more than just hitting forward. Secondly, I was shocked by the answers! It was really enlightening to see who knew what about me. Most people have me figured out (note to self, be more mysterious)--the question that I loved reading the response to most was "any special talents?"--not because I liked hearing what people thought I was good at (wink wink), but because it was amazing to hear what people thought I was good at!!! It just really helped reinforce somethings in me that needed reinforcing.
Moral of the moment: Not all chain emails are ridiculous--some of them are actually worthwhile.
